Cu Chi Tunnels – Underground History & Farewell to Saigon 🕳️🎖️🌃
This morning, we journey out of the city to visit one of Vietnam’s most remarkable and iconic wartime sites—the Cu Chi Tunnels, located just outside Ho Chi Minh City.
Stretching over 200 kilometers, this extensive underground network was originally dug by the Viet Minh during the resistance against French colonial rule, and later expanded by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War. These tunnels housed everything from hospitals and kitchens to living quarters and command centers, forming a hidden city beneath the jungle floor.
The Cu Chi Tunnels played a pivotal role during the conflict, particularly in the 1968 Tet Offensive, launched from here with dramatic impact. Today, a section of the tunnels has been safely widened for visitors—giving you the chance to crawl through and experience, firsthand, the incredible ingenuity and hardship of life underground.
⚠️ Note: This experience can be hot, humid, and claustrophobic, so those uncomfortable with tight spaces may choose to observe from above.
After returning to Saigon in the afternoon, you’ll have free time to explore more of the city at your own pace—perhaps shop for souvenirs in Ben Thanh Market, relax in a sidewalk café, or visit one of the city's trendy art spaces or boutiques.
As the sun sets on your Vietnam adventure, enjoy a final group dinner with your fellow travelers—a chance to share stories, laughter, and one last unforgettable Vietnamese meal together. 🇻🇳✨
